In this case it was a combination of things that made us miss the Penn cemetery (where he was disinterred and removed to Guilford Courthouse Battleground, but his wife is still buried there). I should've looked up the detailed directions on Cemetery Census and printed those off, but did not. That was the main problem. We had passed a church and so we turned around thinking maybe the church was the site. We were also time-limited in that we had to make it back in time to see the Golden Dragon Acrobats. And we really were concerned about getting stuck in the mud. Bring your 4WD vehicle.
