Theresa of the sliding beer

This article in the local paper reminds me that I need to spend more time at Western Lanes, the venerable bowling alley near NC State. In the 1990s I was on the receiving end of many a cheap canned beer slid/served by Theresa. I'm glad to hear she's still going strong.

Completely unrelated, a meme that I doubt many folks beyond McLaren will get:

I think I'd drink a Schlitz there just for the show. Some skills have to be witnessed in person.

You got that right. And yeah, I doubt they'll be getting any fine Clipper City products in at the ol' bowling alley.

Well, I'm pushin' it on Schlitz. I'd probably ask for a Budweiser.

(Pam, I think, would simply abstain. She isn't one to compromise her principles so easily. Me, I grew up on Bud.)

Being Of A Certain Age, I was pretty catholic when it came to beer back when fancy beer meant: Heineken. Stroh's, Schlitz, Budweiser, National Bohemian ... there were many rooms in the mansion. Lucky for me, my main hangout during the P.M. era (Pre-Microbrewery) had Michelob Dark on tap. Not bad for cheap beer, especially with a lemon slice.

If only it showed you elapsed time--I bet trn might jump up the queue a bit.

Not anymore. Actually I'm surprised trn is still lurking in the history. My ISP got bought out and the news server now just dumps core most of the time when I try to read alt.music.chapel-hill.
