The Alasdair Roberts song "Slowly Growing Old" might possibly be as good as it gets. Plucky captains of Google should be able to find it on the online. I can't stop playing it.

Thank you; I have found it and will give it some listen. Also thanks to the entwined nature of google discoveries, I now for the first time have some interest in watching the movie "Knocked Up". So thanks(?) for that too.

The sloppy critic's shorthand for Alasdair Roberts is "the Scottish Will Oldham" but in this case that's what got me to listen to his stuff. I was driving to the show last night playing one of his CDs in the car and "Slowly Growing Old" hit me dead center.
